What Ibrahim did not know was that he in turn was also being watched. Behind a small outcrop of rocks, a small, dark haired man shifted into the shadows to remain unseen. John Quinn had travelled back through time with Booth and Lansing but unlike Lansing he had neither bloodlust nor an urge to replace Booth in the covenâs hierarchy. He simply wished to serve their master. He had followed Boothâs instructions to find a position overlooking the camp and to look for the captive students. From his location he had a limited view of the camp below. The tree was a much better vantage point and he had contemplated simply killing the man he noticed sheltering by the tree, but there had been something familiar about him. Something in the posture that caused a flicker of recognition in his subconscious and he had slipped behind the rocky outcrop instead. A few minutes later the man had stepped into a clearer light and the familiar face of Ibrahim Hadmani had become recognisable. Quinn knew Hadmani well. He had spent long hours at faculty meetings with the curator, and found him one of the easier members of the universityâs staff to work with. In truth, he quite liked the charming Egyptian, but without a qualm he wondered if he should kill Hadmani. No, obviously not. Hadmani would die soon enough but Booth would want to know what, if anything, the curator knew about the students and most specifically about the girl they had been sent to find. He had no doubts that Booth would quickly torture the information from Hadmani very quickly. He did, however, doubt his ability to capture his target alone. Quinn had seen Ibrahim Hadmani at the gym. He knew that the Egyptian was younger and stronger than he was, and he also knew that Hadmani took part in boxing fitness classes with that girlfriend of his. One on one, he wasnât sure he could subdue the younger man. No, better to return to Booth and tell him what he had found. If he was lucky, Booth might not punish him for failing to find the young students.
